Where Should I Install My Sun Room?

Sun Rooms: Style and Substance in a Glass Room

Sun Rooms are Great Places to Entertain | (480) 926-2300

One of the questions we are commonly asked is “where should I install my sun room?”  Typically, sun rooms are installed on the back part of the house.  Why?  Well, for one thing: security.  Unless you live in a neighborhood with a zero crime rate, which is incredibly rare, crimes such as break ins and vandalism can and do happen.  You want to make it as hard as possible by putting your sun room in the back of the house.  Another reason you want your Arizona room to be in the back of the house is for privacy.  Living in a glass room that is publicly visible puts you on permanent display to pretty much everyone.  However, there is another reason you want to locate the sun room towards the back of your house well.

You want your sun room to be able to catch the sunlight, but not be overwhelmed by it.  If you put your solarium on a southern or western exposure, you are likely going to have a hard time keeping it cool and comfortable in the summer months.  You also want to make sure that anything you use to decorate has been UV treated.

What Fabrics Work in an Arizona Room?

People’s tastes vary significantly.  When you’re getting ready to decorate, you want to make sure that not only does it match your tastes, it also matches the room.  Regardless of the upholstery and decor, you want to make sure that any fabrics that are exposed to the sun are UV treated to keep them from fading.

So remember, you’re going to be living in a glass room.  So don’t throw stones, and remember to keep the balance between style and substance in your sun room.

This concludes part one of our series on sun rooms.  Be sure to read part two and part three as well.
