Scottsdale Shade Sails
June 3, 2009
Another job we’re proud to have completed is up in north Scottsdale. The customer had a west-facing backyard, and was unhappy with how the existing patio cover blocked the setting sun. In order to combat the problem, the customer decided to cover their pool and jacuzzi with a custom shade sail that both improved their backyard experience during the day and kept the sun out of their windows in the evening.
The sail looked excellent with the negative edge pool, accentuating the pool as you can see in the second picture.

Large rebates for Arizona Solar Electricity Systems will end soon!
May 9, 2009
We found this on Sanyo’s website and thought that it was important to tell people about. Royal Covers is able to quickly design a solar electricity system for your home or business and if you hurry, you can still register to receive the largest rebates available for solar systems like this. Some of these rebates end May 31st, 2009, so contact us today!
From Sanyo’s website…
Savings Every Month. A solar electric system powers your home so you can use considerably less electricity from the public utility.
State Rebates And Federal Tax Credits. Your state’s public utility rebates and the federal government’s tax credits can help pay for a substantial percentage of your system and installation.
Solar Gives You Protection Against Electricity Rate Hikes. Imagine that you had been able to lock in automobile gas prices in 2004. You’d be paying less than $2 a gallon not only today, but also for decades to come. With every gas price increase, you’d be saving even more money. That’s exactly what you’re doing with the cost of electricity when you install a solar electric system.
Because solar installation is a fixed cost, savings increase as utility rates rise. Essentially, you’re building in a hedge against future rate increases. And rising utility rates are definitely something you can count on, especially considering that they’ve gone up an average of 5% per year for the past 30 years. In 2006, some states saw the highest tier residential rates jump as much as 55% in just one year.
Solar Increases The Value Of Your Home. A solar electric system can increase a home’s value by $20,000 for every $1,000 in reduced annual operating costs.
Solar Offers You Energy Independence. By switching to solar electricity, we can help alleviate our overdependence on foreign sources. Solar electricity is used where it is made, so there are no transportation or delivery costs. Solar electricity’s price stability is also independent of the effects of natural disasters, foreign political instability or trade disputes. The supply chain extends simply from the sun to your roof.
While you are enjoying reliable solar electricity, you are also sharing that reliability with everyone else. Doesn’t it make sense that if everyone had solar electricity systems, the public power grid would be more reliable since there would be less strain on it?
Your Utility Meter Spins Backwards With Net Metering. Net metering programs in 38 U.S. states and the District of Columbia help increase your savings. With net metering, your electric meter tracks your net power usage, spinning forwards when you use electricity from the utility, and backwards when your system is generating more electricity than you need. Your local utility or www.dsireusa.org can fill you in on specific details of the net metering program in your area.
How Net Metering Works: During the day, the system “banks” any surplus on the utility grid, feeding it back to the utility and generating a credit on your bill. The more electricity you produce, the more you save. At night, the system automatically draws the electricity you need from the grid. This forwards and backwards flow of electricity is completely automatic, and provides a smooth, uninterrupted flow of power for all your household needs.
What exactly is an Arizona room?
March 30, 2009
We have had several people ask us recently what an Arizona room is. For some reason Google most often pulls up results for room rental’s in Arizona. An Arizona room is simply another name for a sunroom or solid patio cover enclosure. Arizona rooms are slightly different then traditional glass rooms or a conservatory because it has a solid awning on top. Not lattice patio covers or glass roofs. An Arizona room creates a living space out of your new or existing patio cover that blocks you from the harmful effects of the sun and the harshness of desert weather conditions.
Because people are choosing to stay in their homes longer, Arizona rooms are an inexpensive way of extending your living space. This type of home renovation or expansion is facilitated best by a licensed and experienced patio enclosure company, such as we are. Contact us today to get a free quote and design on an Arizona room for your home!

Carport, parking cover, carports, and parking covers
January 21, 2009
A carport is a simple shade addition that will make life more comfortable for you – and help add years to the life of your automobile’s paint finish by keeping it in the shade. In some states parking beneath carports even reduces insurance premiums. It could also mean no more brushing snow from your windshield or unloading things in the rain.
Our shade carports can be attached to the home or built free-standing. They can also be constructed large enough for single or multiple vehicles and are easily heightened for farm machinery and motor homes. Carports add convenience. They are made using the same low maintenance alumawood materials as are a patio cover which means they will never warp, crack, rot, or split. Submit an inquiry for getting a quotation on your solid or lattice carport for shade.

Patio Cover and Patio Covers
December 20, 2008
A high quality patio cover is an investment in the value and beauty of your home. Patio covers can be attached to your home or built freestanding in your yard. Both of these types of patio awnings can create a private retreat, a landscaping focal point, or an entertainment area. We commonly refer to a patio cover or patio awning as a alumawood solid patio cover or alumawood lattice patio cover. The simple difference is that solid patio covers provide complete overhead protection from the elements like sun, rain or hail whereas lattice patio covers are customized to provide the amount of sunlight or shade you desire in your outdoor patio living area.
Whichever patio cover style you select, yours will be custom-designed and custom-fit to compliment your home’s architecture. Plus the patio covers we carry are constructed with materials that won’t rust, warp, crack, or rot which means low maintenance and lasting beauty for years to come.
The patio covers we build increase the value of your property while affordably adding outdoor living space for you and your family. Contact us for a free design and quote on a patio cover that will enhance your home’s exterior, expand your living space, and add value to your home.
